Liverpool Women’s Presence Felt Throughout the Anfield Experience

This isn’t my usual kind of post, as we haven’t been to a match—but I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about our recent trip to Anfield and the Liverpool FC museum. On Thursday, 16th April, Andrea, Willem, Grandma Carolyn, and I headed out for a special visit.

What really stood out—and why I felt it was worth writing about here—was how well the women’s team was represented throughout the tour. While the main focus is still on the men’s side (obviously), it was brilliant to see just how much space and attention was given to Liverpool Women.

There’s a section about halfway through the tour, in the open area where you can grab food and drinks, entirley dedicated to the women’s team. There are cardboard cutouts of some of the top players for photo opportunities, and it really feels like they’re being celebrated.

The audio tour also features a fantastic segment on the women’s team, covering their formation and journey right up to the present day. In the museum itself, the women’s team even has their own display case—something that really stood out to me. It was great to see their achievements and history given proper space and recognition alongside the men’s.

And it was the smaller details that really showed the thought that had gone into their inclusion—like the women’s shirts hung alongside the men’s in the home dressing room, and the option to choose players from both squads for the green screen photos.

With the rise in support for the women’s game since the Euros, it’s so encouraging to see clubs like Liverpool making a real effort to promote and celebrate their women’s team. It absolutely deserves recognition.
