Creators and Finishers: Liverpool Women’s Midfield & Attack

With the new season starting today, we’re back with the second part of our celebration of this incredible Liverpool FC Women squad. This time, the spotlight shifts to the midfielders and attackers – the players who bring the magic in the middle and the fire up front. They’re the heartbeat of the team, driving the play forward, threading those perfect passes, and unleashing strikes that get us out of our seats. These are the ones who make us dream, who turn tight matches into unforgettable moments, and who carry the roar of the crowd with every goal and assist.

This feature is our way, as fans, of honouring the creativity, flair, and finishing power that define Liverpool Women’s attacking spirit. From the steady engines in midfield to the fearless finishers leading the line, these players are the sparks that keep our love for the game burning bright.

No. 6: Emilia Szymczak

Emilia Szymczak, our new Polish midfielder, has joined Liverpool this season full of energy and determination. From her interviews, it’s clear she is genuinely excited to play for the club and eager to make her mark. We’re looking forward to seeing how she integrates into the team, and we can’t wait to cheer her on as she helps drive Liverpool forward.

No. 8: Fuka Negano

Fuka is the very definition of a tactician, arguably the best at Liverpool. She reads the game with incredible intelligence, sitting just in front of the defence to dictate play while also showing her quality in front of goal when the opportunity arises (as we saw in that unforgettable win over Man Utd at Anfield last season). With outstanding spatial awareness and a quiet but commanding leadership, she’s at the heart of everything Liverpool do. Her skill, relentless work rate, and determination make her a constant presence in the starting XI. She might not always grab the headlines, but she is the rock of this team, and I think it’s fair to say every fan breathed a huge sigh of relief when the news came that she had signed a new contract.

No. 14: Marie Höbinger

Marie is the definition of an all-round midfielder. She’s more than capable of dropping back to help out defensively, but it’s when Liverpool are on the front foot that she truly comes alive. Her natural attacking instinct, combined with incredible technical skill, makes her a constant threat. She has a rare ability to create space not just for herself but also for the players around her, unlocking defences with clever movement and vision.

When it comes to set pieces, she’s right at the top of the list, and with good reason. Whether it’s a free kick or a corner, Marie delivers with world-class precision, leaving fans and opponents alike wondering how on earth she managed to pull it off. She adds flair, creativity, and that touch of magic that can turn a tight game in Liverpool’s favour, making her an invaluable part of the squad.

No. 15: Sophie Lungaard

Unfortunately, we haven’t had the chance to see as much of Sophie as we’d have liked because of her unlucky run with injuries, but the glimpses we did get were enough to leave us wanting so much more. Even in limited minutes, it was clear she has something special, pulling off unique plays and showcasing skills that made us sit up with excitement. Just as we were starting to get a taste of what she could bring to the squad, injury cut that journey short, and her absence was felt throughout last season.

That’s why her return feels so important. The moment she stepped back into training and received a guard of honour from her teammates, we’d have happily joined in with the applause ourselves. Liverpool missed her energy, her creativity, and her spark, and now we can’t wait to see her fully fit and ready to light up the pitch this season.

No. 18: Ceri Holland

Our Welsh giant dragon is the very definition of hard work. She is solid, both physically and mentally, and every single moment on the pitch sees her giving everything she has. Opposing teams must dread facing her, because she is a tank that never seems to run empty, always finding that extra ounce of energy when it matters most.

She plays through pain, pushes through every challenge, and just when you think she has nothing left to give, she digs deep and delivers even more. She must consistently top the charts for distance covered in every match she plays. Her relentlessness, combined with her skill and determination, makes her a true force in midfield and a nightmare for anyone trying to get past her.

This year, representing Wales at the Euros, she was a standout performer, showing the same drive and commitment on the international stage that we’re so lucky to see in Liverpool colours. Honestly, words almost fail me when I try to capture just how incredible Ceri is. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without her. She’s a fan favourite, a household favourite, and a player who embodies the heart, strength, and spirit of this team.

No. 19: Kirsty Maclean

Our new Scottish midfielder has joined Liverpool this summer from Rangers, and while we don’t know a huge amount about her yet, we’re already excited about her. From the videos of her signing and the interviews we’ve seen online, it’s clear she brings enthusiasm, ambition, and a fresh energy to the squad. We’re looking forward to watching her play, seeing her style on the pitch, and discovering the impact she can have for Liverpool. With a new season ahead, there’s so much to be excited about, and we can’t wait to see what she will contribute to the team’s creativity, strength, and drive in midfield.

No. 24: Sam Kerr

Sam joined us on loan last season and quickly made such an impression that she wanted to stay. Liverpool made her feel valued, reminded her of her worth, and reignited her love of football, and it’s clear she belongs here. Even in the short time she’s been with the team, she’s shown glimpses of the talent and versatility that make us so excited to see what more she can do. What we’ve witnessed so far is already incredible.

She can dominate in midfield, driving the team forward with control and composure, or use her pace to excel in an attacking midfield role, breaking lines and creating opportunities. She’s never afraid to take a shot, and her ability to pick out a pass is exceptional, with vision that allows her to see moves before anyone else does. Sam brings energy, skill, and intelligence to every game, and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow, dazzle, and make her mark on the team this season.

No. 36: Zara Shaw

Zara signed her first professional contract with Liverpool this year, a huge milestone for such a young player bursting with raw talent. Her potential is clear, and it’s wonderful to see that Liverpool has recognised it too. She has the skill, determination, and drive to grow into a key player for the team, and we’re genuinely excited to watch her journey unfold.

Even at this early stage, Zara shows glimpses of what she could bring to the squad, creativity, flair, and a fearless approach to the game. The future looks incredibly bright, and we can’t wait to see her make her mark, develop her talents, and contribute to the continued success of Liverpool Women.

No. 7: Cornelia Kopac

Cornelia joined Liverpool last season during a challenging campaign, and for us, she quickly became one of the bright lights of the team. She is a player you can always rely on to take on opponents, using her skill, creativity, and clever movement to make things happen. Every game, she positions herself to make an impact, whether that’s taking a shot or setting up a chance for her teammates.

She has an impressive array of tricks and techniques to get past defenders, making her a constant threat and a joy to watch. Beyond her skill, Cornelia brings a positivity and energy that lifts the whole team. She is always smiling, gives her absolute all on the pitch, and consistently makes a massive difference for Liverpool. Her presence reminds us that even in difficult seasons, players like her can shine and inspire fans week in, week out.

No. 9: Leanne Kiernan

Our Irish attacker is a true force on the pitch, blessed with both pace and remarkable skill. Her international experience speaks volumes about her quality, and it’s clear that opposing teams are well aware of the threat she poses. Give her even a yard of space, and she will make you pay, often with a clinical finish that can change the course of a game.

Beyond her talent, she brings an infectious personality and a smile that lights up the pitch. Her interactions with the fans show her genuine love for them and for the club, making her not just a joy to watch but a player who truly connects with the Liverpool community. She embodies the perfect combination of skill, heart, and charisma, and it’s impossible not to be excited every time she steps onto the field.

No. 10: Sophie Roman Haug

It probably won’t surprise anyone to hear that Sophie is Andrea’s new favourite player and another household favourite in our home. After Andrea had the incredible opportunity to walk onto the pitch with her, Sophie earned a very special place in our hearts. Andrea was understandably nervous about stepping onto the pitch at Anfield in front of so many fans, and Sophie was amazing with her. She put Andrea at ease, helped her enjoy the moment, and made sure it was an experience she would never forget. We will be forever grateful to Sophie for that kindness and generosity.

On top of her wonderful personality, Sophie is an absolutely outstanding player. She is a big, strong striker who naturally dominates aerial challenges, but her game is far from one-dimensional. She has the skill, composure, and instinct to finish in front of goal herself, while also possessing the vision, creativity, and team-first mindset to set up her teammates and create scoring opportunities. She was a key factor in Liverpool having a strong season in 24/25, consistently making an impact in every match. Her combination of strength, technique, and unselfish play makes her a constant threat on the pitch and a key contributor to Liverpool’s attacking power.

No. 13: Mia Enderby

Mia is another player who holds a very special place in our hearts. She was signed the year we started following Liverpool Women, and it has been such a joy to watch her grow and develop into the incredible player she is today. She is almost unrecognisable from the young woman we first met pitch side, when Andrea nervously ask for her autograph. Her dedication to training, improving, and pushing herself is evident in every game.

Opponents are well aware of Mia’s pace and skill, and they often try to slow her down with the more physical side of the game. Being young and small, it can be a challenge for her to stand up to those tactics, but it’s clear she has worked hard to adapt and continue using her speed and creativity effectively.

As someone so passionate about the game, it can’t have been easy for her not to start more often, but when she comes on she injects fresh pace, energy, and creativity into the team. Watching Mia grow, battle, and shine when given the opportunity has been a pleasure for us, and we can’t wait to see how far her talent and determination will take her in the seasons to come.

So that’s our write-up of Liverpool Women’s midfielders and attackers from our perspective as fans. From the creative playmakers to the fearless forwards, each player brings something unique to the team, and we can’t wait to see them in action this season. Their skill, determination, and energy make every game exciting to watch, and as the new season kicks off, we’re full of anticipation for the moments, goals, and brilliance they will bring. Here’s to a season of thrilling football, unforgettable plays, and celebrating the incredible talent that makes Liverpool Women so special. YNWA
